Belgian FIFA referee Erik Lambrexts has been appointed to Qarabag's European Cup match for the fourth time.
According to "Report", the 41-year-old referee has previously officiated three matches of the Azerbaijani champion.
The Belgian referee was in charge of the UEFA Conference League match in which the "kholan horses" drew goalless with Swiss representative "Basel" in Baku in 2021. He was also appointed to the UEFA Europa League matches in which the team lost to Freiburg (1:2) in Germany in 2022 and drew with Molde (2:2) in Norway in 2023.
Lambrechts also officiated Neftchi's 0-1 defeat to North Macedonian representative Shkendiya in the UEFA Europa League qualifying round in 2016.
The head referee was also in charge of the matches in which the main national team of Azerbaijan lost to Serbia (1:3) in 2021, the U-19 team lost to Israel (1:3) in 2018, and this team won against Liechtenstein (3:0) in the same year.
It should be noted that the Benfica - Qarabag match will start on September 16 at 23:00 Baku time.
