Former Barcelona and France defender Eric Abidal has responded to false death rumors circulating about him. Sport24.az reports that information has spread on social networks that the 45-year-old Frenchman died due to complications after a second liver transplant.
Abidal wrote on his social media account: "Some rumors should never exist. I am here, with my family, and everything is fine. The most important thing is respect. I am alive and well. Thank you for your support. Let's focus on what really matters.
Abidal ended his football career in 2014. He played for Monaco, Lille, Lyon, Barcelona and Olympiacos. From 2018 to 2020, the former defender served as the sports director of Barcelona.
