Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca has denied claims that their points loss in the Premier League is related to the upcoming Champions League match.
İdman.biz reports that the 'nobles' lost their victory away against Brentford on Saturday.
Although the home side opened the scoring with a goal from Kevin Schade, Cole Palmer equalized in the 60th minute. Towards the end of the match, Moises Caicedo put Chelsea ahead, but Fabio Carvalho secured a 2-2 draw for the home side in added time.
In his statement, Maresca emphasized that the rotations were related to the players' physical condition, not to the match against Bayern: "No, absolutely not. Joao Pedro himself said that he is not fully ready. If I were thinking about Bayern, he would not be on the field. But he played because our focus was solely on this game. We have many matches ahead and we constantly have to look for different options."
It should be noted that Chelsea will play their first Champions League group stage match against Bayern in Munich on September 17. On September 20, the team will be guests of Manchester United at Old Trafford. The London club will also face Qarabag in Baku on November 5 in the Champions League group stage.
