The referees for the crucial play-off final match, where the Turkish national football team will compete to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, have been announced. Michael Oliver from the English Football Association will officiate this critical match that will determine the fate of the "Crescent-Stars."
İdman.Biz reports that Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring will assist Oliver in the match to be held on March 31 at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium in Pristina. Christopher Kavanagh will serve as the fourth official.

Interestingly, the experienced English referee does not evoke pleasant memories for the Turkish national team. Michael Oliver was also the head referee in the qualifying match held in Konya on September 7, 2025, where Turkey was defeated 0:6 by Spain. In that match, the Spaniards were remembered for Mikel Merino's hat-trick, Pedri's double, and Ferran Torres' goal.

The Turkish national team advanced to this final after a 1-0 victory over Romania. Now, to win a World Cup ticket, the "Crescent-Stars" must overcome the Kosovo hurdle. This match, which will start at 22:45 Baku time, will determine the national team's future in the 2026 World Cup.
