The English Premier League (EPL) has officially secured an extra fifth spot in the 2026/27 Champions League.
According to Lent.az, this happened after Arsenal's 1-0 away win over Sporting in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. This result raised England's UEFA coefficient to 25.013, placing them in the top two.
With the Champions League final stage expanding to 36 teams, the countries with the highest UEFA coefficient at the end of the season will be awarded two additional places. Spain (20.281) and Germany (19.714) will compete for the second place.
It should be noted that England can gain two more additional places in the Champions League. For the sixth place, either Aston Villa or Nottingham Forest must win the Europa League. At the same time, in the first case, the "Birmingham" club must remain outside the Premier League's top five. For the seventh place, Liverpool needs to win the Champions League, while the Merseyside team must remain outside the Premier League's top five.
After the 31st round of the Premier League, the teams that would qualify for the Champions League are "Arsenal" (70), "Manchester City" (61), "Manchester United" (55), "Aston Villa" (54) and "Liverpool" (49). "Chelsea" is sixth (48), and "Brentford" is seventh (46).
