Qarabagh player Emmanuel Addai wants to play for the Ghana national team at the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to Sportnet.az that the 25-year-old midfielder said this himself.
"I was hoping to have a chance to participate in the African Cup of Nations. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a ticket this time, but there is also the World Cup ahead. I wish everything goes well during the year. If I get an invitation to the national team and represent my country, it would mean everything to me," Addai said.
Although he said that he has not yet received any messages from the national team's coaching staff and has not been in direct contact with them, he added that he has not lost hope: "I believe they have seen me. Everything has a reason, everything happens at the right time. That's why I'm waiting for my time. I'm not in a hurry - my main goal is to have a great season throughout the year and develop in different directions."
Addai said that he wants to do something for his country: "I grew up watching them since I was a child - especially the moments when they lost the finals in Africa. It affected me. I really want to do something for my people, to make people happy. It's not just about playing in clubs abroad, building a career and making money. Of course, these are important for my future. But I want people to remember me not only as a successful football player abroad, but also as a player who has done something for his country. I really love Ghana. I really love it."
It should be noted that Emmanuel Addai signed a 2-year contract with Qarabagh in August 2024. The Ghana national team will compete in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama in the World Cup.
