"We knew we could score a lot of goals in the match." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by the captain of the Azerbaijani national team, Emin Mahmudov.
The midfielder shared his thoughts after the victory (6:1) against Saint Lucia in the "FIFA Series – 2026" international tournament:
"When the game started, we tried to score quickly and raise the tempo. Our game went well. We scored goals. That's why we won by a large score. We were ready to score quickly. We wanted the match to be more comfortable."
The experienced football player also touched upon the complete change of the squad in the second half of the match:
"There is good competition in the team. The players also showed themselves in a good light after the break. Our next opponent will be a bit more difficult. It's a serious opponent. We will still try to achieve a good result."
