Azerbaijan national football team players feel ashamed of the heavy defeat.
A "Report" employee dispatched to Reykjavik reports that this was stated by the captain of the Azerbaijani national team, Emin Mahmudov, in a statement to journalists.
He spoke about the heavy defeat in the away match against Iceland in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup:
"We are very ashamed of this result. We shouldn't have lost with this score. We didn't think the score would be so big. I apologize to the fans. Let them not think that we are happy after such defeats."
It should be noted that the Iceland-Azerbaijan match ended with a 5:0 victory for the home team.
