"After the game, someone from the Referees Committee comes out and says it wasn't a penalty. So, they don't want us to move forward. As a result, they are playing with someone's life."
These words were said by the captain of "Neftçi", Emin Mahmudov.
He expressed his protest regarding the penalty episode assigned to their goal in the final minutes of the 2:2 draw against "Shamakhi" in the 22nd round of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
The 34-year-old midfielder noted that the referees are biased against his team.
"This is just a disgrace. It is impossible to find words for such a penalty decision in the 90+5th minute. It's not the first time, such cases have happened 3-4 times before. The team members are disappointed. Because victory was very important for us, and they took it away from us. There is no point in coming out and talking after the game. The chairman of the Referees Committee will come out and say there is no penalty. I can count 15 episodes this season where we were not given a penalty. But here they will say that the elbow touched. First, our football player jumped. Now, if someone jumps from behind and I elbow him in the head, then I will win such a penalty in every game. Moreover, they did not give our clean penalty before that episode. They didn't even look. After Abubakar scored a goal with his head, there was a hand touch from the opponent. But Javid Jalilov ignored that episode," he said in his statement to teleqraf.az.
E.Mahmudov also added that they are fighting against the referees:
"We will continue. We have a team with great character. We will focus on future games and we will be better. Because we are fighting not only against the teams, but also against the referees."
