Azerbaijan national team captain Emin Mahmudov commented on the 0:3 defeat against France in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.
Idman.Biz reports that Mahmudov stated that they had difficulty with counter-attacks.
"The opponent was very strong, we tried to play well in defense, but Kilian Mbappe passed us easily. We had difficulty with counter-attacks. Still, everyone did their best," the national team captain noted.
Stating that they are ready for the upcoming match against Ukraine, the captain added: "We will recover and prepare well. Our head coach Aykhan Abbasov brings unity to the team, we try to play as a family."
