Emiliano Martinez hoped to transfer to Manchester United, but it didn't happen.
İdman.biz reports that according to "The Athletic", the Aston Villa goalkeeper spent the whole day waiting for a call at the club's base, but no one from the Manchester club contacted him.
The Argentine international did not hide his desire to move to Manchester United and asked club defender Lisandro Martinez to speak to the management about it.
Martinez also contacted United manager Ruben Amorim in June and July. Amorim believed that the world champion goalkeeper's character and experience would be beneficial to the team.
However, Manchester United did not send an official offer before pre-season preparations began. Later, Aston Villa only received a call regarding a loan offer for Martinez. There was no progress on this issue until the end of August, and as a result, Manchester United signed Senne Lammens.
The Argentine goalkeeper left Aston Villa's base only shortly before the transfer window closed and left to join the national team.
