"Sabail", which will play in the I League in the new season, will be a contender for the championship.
This was stated by the head coach of the team, Elvin Mammadov, in an interview with "Report".
The specialist emphasized that their main goal is to return to the Azerbaijan Premier League again:
"We will start training on July 25. We have already signed a contract with Rahman Hajiyev. The team's captain, Yusif Nabiyev, also remained in the team. We have players with Premier League experience. So we are gathering a competitive team. Our goal is to return to the elite. We plan to hold 4 friendly matches during the training camp. But the opponents are not yet known".
E. Mammadov said that they want to strengthen the attack line:
"We have enough players in the defensive line. We want to strengthen the attack with several legionnaires. We want to fill the gaps and be more competitive. The management has created conditions to negotiate with the players I want and can afford. The goal is to form a good team. Rufat Abdullazadeh will leave the team. His departure has already been agreed. In general, we have parted ways with almost 80 percent of the players who played in the team last season. We have kept the captain and a few more players. Most of them are members of the substitutes who train with the main team. Suleyman Allush, who has a contract with the club, has been put up for transfer".
It should be noted that "Sabail" finished the last season of the Azerbaijan Premier League in 10th place. The team will compete in the I League in the 2025/2026 season.
