"I thank all the fans, the Azerbaijani people, my teammates and coaches." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by "Qarabagh" football player Elvin Jafarquliyev in an interview with "Ictimai TV".
The flank defender spoke about the return match (2:3) of the UEFA Champions League play-off stage, which they lost to "Newcastle" in England:
"We came a very good way up to here. It was really hard for us. I think we had good games too, we fought decently".
Jafarquliyev also touched on the first play-off match (1:6): "Our mistakes were too many. Making a comeback didn't seem so convincing. But we got together as a team. Our conversation was that we couldn't leave the field without a fight. We were working for that. We have to do our best. We represent Azerbaijan and we carry the "Qarabagh" flag on our uniform. Even though we conceded goals, we fought well. It was a great experience for us. I hope to achieve even better results".
The member of the Azerbaijani national team spoke about his future career:
"I get asked such questions a lot. I would like to represent Azerbaijan properly in Europe. But you have to be patient. I am currently in "Qarabagh", everything is great here. You can see even better Elvin. I am constantly working on myself".
