"I thank all the fans, the people of Azerbaijan, my teammates and coaches."
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Qarabag's football player Elvin Jafarquliyev in his statement to ITV.
The flank defender spoke about the return match (2:3) of the UEFA Champions League play-off stage they lost to Newcastle in England:
"We have come a very good way so far. It was really hard for us. I think we had good games, we fought worthy.".
E. Jafarquliyev also touched on the first play-off match (1:6):
"Our mistakes were too much. It didn't seem so convincing to make a comeback. But we gathered as a team. Our conversation was that we can't leave the field without fighting. We were working for this. We have to do our best. We represent Azerbaijan and we carry the flag of "Qarabag" on our uniform. Although we conceded goals, we fought well. It was a great experience for us. I wish to achieve even better achievements from this."
The member of the Azerbaijani national team spoke about his future career:
"I get asked these questions a lot. I would like to represent Azerbaijan properly in Europe. But you have to be patient. I am currently in Qarabag, everything is great here. You can see even better Elvin than this. I am constantly working on myself."
