"We played two games against a strong opponent. In the first match, the opponent was dominant. They were ahead of us in individual skill. Nevertheless, our players showed character, fought to the end, and as a result, we drew 0:0. Despite our defeat, our team played the second match better."
Idman.biz reports that Elkhan Abdullayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team consisting of football players under 19 years old, said this in a statement to the AFFA press service after the second test match (1:3) held with the local team within the training camp organized in Uzbekistan.
The expert stated that they made rotations in the squad and gave new players a chance: "We also opened the score with an early goal. However, the fact that the Uzbekistan national team has more qualified players played a decisive role in the end. Although we lost, we surpassed the opponent in created goal opportunities. Overall, I was satisfied with the training camp. Of course, we have shortcomings, we will work on them."
It should be noted that a 0:0 draw was recorded in the first match between the teams on October 9.
