Elkhan Abdullayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national under-19 football team, made a statement to the AFFA press service after the second friendly match (1:3) against the local team as part of the training camp organized in Uzbekistan. Sport24.az reports that the specialist stated that the team played well despite the defeat:
"We played two games against a strong opponent. In the first match, the dominance was on the opponent's side. They were ahead of us in individual skills. However, our players showed character, fought to the end and eventually drew 0:0. Despite the defeat, our team played the second match better. We made rotations in the squad, gave new players a chance. We also opened the score with an early goal. However, the fact that the Uzbekistan national team has more quality players played a decisive role in the end. Even though we lost, we were superior to the opponent in the goal chances created. Overall, I was satisfied with the training camp. Of course, we have shortcomings, we will work on them.".
It should be noted that the first match between the teams, held on October 9, ended in a 0:0 draw.
