The statements made by Ehtiram Guliyev, Chairman of the Board of "Turan Tovuz," after the first match of the Azerbaijan Cup semi-final stage between "Turan Tovuz" and "Zira" (0:2), have caused serious discussions.
Idman.Biz reports that teleqraf.az, writing that the final decision on the matter will be announced by the AFFA Disciplinary Committee in the coming days, noted that some points in Ehtiram Guliyev's statements were considered unacceptable.
According to reports, his statement after the game, in which he used the phrase "I don't want the fans to remain silent," was negatively received by the AFFA leadership. This statement was assessed as a call that could disrupt stability within the organization, and as a result, the issue of punishing the club official has come to the fore.
At the same time, the referee decisions that caused the events have not been overlooked. Rahim Hasanov, Chairman of the AFFA Referees Committee, admitted the existence of errors in the match. It is reported that referee Aliyar Aghayev, who did not make a decision in two penalty episodes in the match, was sentenced to a five-match ban.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that the "Turan Tovuz" club has faced such an issue. Earlier, according to a statement issued regarding the match with "Shamakhi" in April 2025, the club's statements were assessed as damaging the reputation of AFFA and the Professional Football League, and as a result, the Tovuz representative was fined 20,000 manats.
Currently, the main expectation is that AFFA's next step will be related to the sanctions to be applied to the club leader.
