Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 38.
Idman.Biz reports that Cavani announced his decision in a farewell message shared on social media. He thanked football and everyone who supported him along the way.
"Thank you so much, football. You shaped me, tested me, taught me to get up when I fell, and showed me to value every step of the way. You allowed me to realize dreams that seemed impossible as a child, to meet incredible people on and off the field. None of this would have been possible without my family, my friends, my teammates, my coaches, and most importantly, the people.
I leave peacefully knowing that I gave everything in every training session and every game. With mistakes, with successes, but always with respect for this profession," Cavani wrote in his post.
