Edinson Cavani came to the aid of a Uruguayan journalist whose daughter needed urgent and expensive surgery.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, journalist Rafa Kotelo's daughter, Ema, has suffered from a complex disease since childhood. Since 2015, she has undergone two operations with a pediatric neurosurgeon in Argentina, but a sudden complication put her life at risk.
"Seeing the results of the tests, the doctor said that we had to do an urgent operation. She is in danger," - Kotelo said.
The operation required immediate payment, which Kotelo could not afford. In desperation, he turned to Cavani, with whom he had a good relationship. Although he could not contact Cavani directly, he managed to contact him through his wife.
"I will take care of it," - the striker replied.
Cavani was out of town at the time, but he organized a friend who owned a restaurant near the clinic to bring the necessary funds.
"He emptied the entire cash register and brought everything he earned that night to the clinic." Thanks to this, the operation was carried out on time. Cavani later reimbursed the restaurant owner for the expenses.
A few weeks later, Kotelo paid Cavani an advance. "But he never spoke about money again," - Kotelo said.
Thanks to the former striker of Napoli, PSG and "Manchester United", he was able to celebrate his daughter's 15th birthday that week.
