The 40-year-old forward of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, Edin Dzeko, is planning to return to his country. Sport24.az reports that the experienced striker is considering ending his national career after the WC-2026, and his active football career a season later.
Currently playing for Schalke, Edin intends to finish his career at Željezničar, which is considered his home. Thus, the Bosnian will sign a one-year contract with Željezničar after the World Championship in the summer. His contract with Schalke runs until June 30, 2026.
Dzeko, a graduate and former football player of Željezničar, has played for Teplice, Usti nad Labem, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Roma, Inter, Fenerbahçe, and Fiorentina.
