As part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, last night the Ecuadorian national team, which drew goalless with Peru, secured a place in the final stage. Sport24.az reports that this will be the 5th time in history that Ecuadorians will participate in the World Cup.
Ecuador has 25 points and is in 2nd place in the tournament table. With 2 rounds remaining until the end of the qualifying stage, the Ecuadorian national team is 7 points ahead of Venezuela, which is in 7th place.
It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup will be held in Mexico, the USA, and Canada from June 11 to July 19. For the first time in history, 48 teams will compete in the final stage.
