Claudio Echeverri, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder of "Girona", has commented on the controversial episode that occurred in the La Liga match against "Barcelona".
Idman.Biz reports that the Argentinian footballer commented on the lack of a foul being called against the Catalan team's defender, Jules Kounde.
Echeverri stated that the episode was unintentional:
"Yes, I stepped on Kounde's foot, but I was running at full speed and it was just an accident. If the referee had given a foul, I would have understood. But luckily, they allowed the game to continue and we won."

It should be noted that this moment was one of the key episodes affecting the fate of the match. In the 59th minute, defender Pau Cubarsí put "Barcelona" ahead, but two minutes later, "Girona" scored the equalizer.
In the 86th minute, midfielder Fran Beltran scored the winning goal, determining the final result of the match – 2:1. A few seconds before the winning goal, Echeverri stepped on Kounde's foot, but the head referee did not consider this episode a foul.
