Ronnie Stam, who became the Dutch champion with "Twente", has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for drug trafficking. Sport24.az reports that the "NU.nl" portal reported this.
The Breda court found 41-year-old Stam guilty of cocaine trafficking and money laundering. The prosecution initially requested 13 years in prison.
His 43-year-old brother was also sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. Both must pay a fine of 30,000 euros. The court also decided to confiscate 1.7 million euros obtained through crime.
It should be noted that Stam played for NAC Breda, Standard, and Wigan, with which he won the English Cup in 2013.
