An interview with Gabala's Congolese footballer Domi Massumu for AZERTAC
- "Gabala" became the champion of the I League last season and returned to the Premier League after a one-year break. How would you comment on your success?
- Last season was very successful for us. We secured the championship ahead of time. It happened sooner than I expected. I also became the top scorer in the league with 16 goals and was awarded an individual prize. It was a double joy for me. The achievements we have achieved both collectively and individually in the past season are invaluable. Greater challenges await us ahead.
- Did you expect to be the top scorer in the I League?
- A striker's job is to score goals. Statistics are important for a football player. I want to continue my goals in the Premier League as well. The key to all success is hard work.
- What are your goals as a team in the new season?
- This season will be even more difficult because the league is different. We must set high goals and work with all our skills to achieve them.
- Do you think that "Gabala" has the potential to be among the medalists in the upcoming season?
- The team has already started preparing for the new season and we will determine possible goals. We will work hard to achieve our desire. Of course, we want to be at the top in the new season. The success we achieve, as well as qualification for the European Cups, will give us pleasure.
- You have played 3 games for the Congo national team. Can your successful performance in Azerbaijan make you a permanent member of the national team?
- The head coach decides whether to call players to the national team. I am always ready to play in the national team. Playing in the main team of my country is a proud feeling.
- What are your impressions of Azerbaijan and Gabala city, which your team represents?
- Azerbaijan is a great country. It is true that I have not been able to go to many places in Gabala. I have been to Tufandag and a number of interesting restaurants. It is a great feeling to live here.
