The Gabonese government has taken drastic measures regarding the country's national football team. Sport24.az reports that the team led by Thierry Mouyouma was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations after finishing the group stage without scoring a single point.
The national team was surpassed by the teams of Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Mozambique.
The government's statement reads:
"Given the shameful performance of the "Panthers" at the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco in 2025, the government has made the following decisions: to dismiss the coaching staff; to suspend the national team until further notice; to exclude footballers Bruno Ecuele Manga and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the team."
