The "Dinamo" football club from Samarkand, Uzbekistan, has signed a one-year contract with Ghanaian midfielder Kingsley Sarfo. The 30-year-old footballer is currently participating in a training camp in Dubai and has joined the team as a free agent.
Idman.Biz reports, citing the club's press service, that Kingsley Sarfo has played for APOEL in Cyprus, as well as "Malmö" and "Sirius" in Sweden.
However, the scandal is linked to his past. At the age of 23, while playing for "Malmö", he was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl and was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison by a Swedish court. Although Sarfo denied the charges, the court and the victim's testimony confirmed his guilt.
After serving his sentence, he returned to the Cypriot championship, winning the country's Cup and Super Cup, but since 2024 he has been troubled by injuries.
Although the footballer has served his sentence, his transfer has not been unequivocally received by the Uzbek public.
