Diego Simeone, head coach of the Spanish club "Atletico", commented on the 3:0 victory over "Girona" in the 17th round of La Liga.

Simeone noted that despite some dangerous episodes, the team controlled the game and strived for more.

The head coach stated that the progress is gradual and admitted that it will be difficult to maintain this level. According to him, the opponents are very strong and the team must constantly continue to work at the maximum level.

Simeone also touched upon the overall assessment of the year. He said that the part of the previous season and the first half of the current season were different, and although they performed well in the Champions League last season, they lacked the necessary motivation and confidence in La Liga. The expert emphasized that in order to achieve its goals, "Atletico" must spend not only 100 percent, but 110-120 percent of its strength.

According to him, at the beginning of the current season, the team was in a difficult situation, but after criticism, the players wanted to improve, and thanks to collective work, faith and the right approach, they were able to correct the situation.

It should be noted that after 18 rounds, "Atletico" is in third place in the La Liga standings with 37 points. In the next round, the Madrid team will face Real Sociedad on the road on January 4.
