Head coach Didier Deschamps has spoken about Paul Pogba's possible return to the French national team.
İdman.biz reports that 32-year-old Pogba returned to football this summer after his doping ban ended and signed a contract with Monaco.
"Yes, he's close to being a footballer again. Return to the French national team? I have no doubt that he wants it and that is his goal. But there are several stages he will go through.
The next stage is for him to wear the Monaco jersey and appear on the field. I hope everything works out for him. Then we'll see. All I wish for him is to take this first step.
As for his possible return to the national team, if I say "yes", everyone will think "oho, Pogba is coming back". If I say "no", I'll look stupid. So, no option works. All I wish for him is to take this first step," the head coach said.
The French national team will host the Azerbaijani national team on October 10 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round. The game will start at 22:45 Baku time at the "Park de Prens" stadium.
