"I am happy to be here. I am grateful to Turan Tovuz for giving me this opportunity."
Idman.biz reports that David Tavareş, Turan Tovuz's new transfer, said this in his statement to Futbolxeber.az.
He stated that the ambition of the Tovuz club attracted his attention: "My initial impressions of the club are excellent. We had a conversation with the head coach and the club director. Turan Tovuz's goals and ambition attracted me."
The 26-year-old midfielder also spoke about Turan Tovuz's head coach, Kurban Berdyev: "Our head coach is very experienced. He has a rich career and has achieved good results. I felt his character when talking to him. This is a very important point."
Tavareş stated that he consulted with two football players before coming to Azerbaijan: "I had some information about Azerbaijan. I got more detailed information about the country and the club from my national team teammates Patrick and Leandro Andrade. They only voiced positive opinions about Azerbaijan and its football."
Benfica's product also spoke about the Tovuz fans: "I know that Turan Tovuz has strong fan support at home games. That's great. Because for me, football without fans is not football. I am glad that my team's home games are sold out. Even when I was collecting information about the club, I was told that there are many fans at Turan Tovuz's games and the fans support the team until the end. I believe that it will be like this in the upcoming season as well. I will do my best to make the Turan Tovuz fans happy."
