The Czech Football Association has stripped West Ham United midfielder Tomáš Souček of his captaincy. The national team players have also been deprived of financial bonuses as punishment for not acknowledging the fans after the World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Gibraltar (6:0).

The players did not go to thank the fans who criticized their performance in the qualifying round. The federation apologized to the fans and announced that the players would not receive money bonuses for the game. Instead, the money will be spent on charity.
The Czech national team will participate in the play-off stage to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. They finished second in Group L with 16 points.
