The Curacao national team has achieved a historic success, becoming the smallest country to qualify for the World Cup. According to Sport24.az, the island nation with a population of only 156,000 has broken Iceland's record and earned the right to participate in the world's most prestigious football tournament for the first time.
Experienced Dutch coach Dick Advocaat played a key role in this success. He took over as the coach of the Curacao national team in January 2024.
It should be noted that the Curacao team drew goalless with Jamaica in an away match last night as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and the 1 point earned was enough to qualify for the World Cup.
