"Crystal Palace" Wins the FA Cup for the First Time

London's "Crystal Palace" team won the FA Cup final match with a 1-0 victory over "Manchester City".

Eberechi Eze scored the winning goal in the 16th minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Manchester City's forward Omar Marmoush failed to accurately execute a penalty kick. Crystal Palace's goalkeeper Dean Henderson saved the shot.

"Crystal Palace" has reached the FA Cup final for the third time in its history and has won this tournament for the first time. In 1990 and 2016, the London representative lost to Manchester United in the final. Previously, the team only won in the lower divisions of the English championship and in regional tournaments.

"Manchester City", in turn, played in the FA Cup final for the 14th time in its history, and this was their third consecutive final. In 2023 and 2024, the team faced Manchester United in the final – Manchester City won the first game, and their rivals won the second. In total, "Manchester City" has seven FA Cup victories. The first victory was won in 1904.

Thanks to the victory, "Crystal Palace", which is in 12th place in the Premier League with two rounds left before the end of the season, qualified for the UEFA Europa League – the second most prestigious club tournament in Europe after the Champions League. The London representative last participated in European Cups in 1998 – at that time, competing in the Intertoto Cup, they lost to the Turkish club "Samsunspor" in the third stage.
