Mickels became the second legionnaire in the history of Azerbaijani championships to score 15 or more goals in 2 different seasons. Before him, only Bahodir Nasimov managed to do this. The Uzbek forward scored 15 goals in the 2010/11 season and 16 goals in the next championship while playing for "Neftchi".
