"Drogheda United" will not be able to participate in the Conference League. Sport24.az reports that the official website of the Irish club has released information:
"It is with great regret that we announce that our appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport has been unsuccessful. We strongly disagree with this decision and hoped and believed that justice and common sense would prevail."
It should be noted that although they qualified for the Conference League as the winner of the Irish Cup, the continental football organization did not allow the team to participate in the continental tournament. The reason is that the Danish club "Silkeborg" and "Drogheda United" are financed by the "Trivela Group". According to the UEFA Statute, two clubs with the same owner cannot participate in one tournament in order to avoid conflicts of interest.
