Roni Stam, who became the national champion as part of the Dutch football club "Twente", has been sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking.
Lent.az reports that Roni Stam repeatedly sold drugs with his brother Rudi Stam. Rudi Stam was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. The court ordered both brothers to pay the state more than three million euros from drug trafficking, as well as a fine of 30,000 euros.
Roni Stam admitted to participating in the sale of 7 kilograms of cocaine only once, but denied participating in larger transactions. During his career, 40-year-old Stam played for the Dutch clubs "NAC Breda" and "Twente", the English team "Wigan" and the Belgian club "Standard".
