An injury to Barcelona forward Lamin Yamal has caused a controversy.
Lent.az reports that he contacted Luis de la Fuente, the head coach of the Spanish national team, after the Champions League match against PSG (1:2). Yamal told Fuente that the problem in his groin area had flared up again. The football player noted that he needs to rest for the next two weeks.
According to reports, de la Fuente responded by saying that if Yamal can play for Barcelona despite the pain, then he can also play for the national team.
After that, Barcelona's sporting director Deco contacted Aitor Karanka, the development director of "La Furia Roja," to clarify the situation. However, Karanka also shared de la Fuente's position.
Barcelona was furious that when the Spanish national team announced the squad for the October friendlies on Friday, Yamal's name was also there. The club perceived this as a provocation by de la Fuente.
Later, Barcelona issued an official statement regarding the injury of the 18-year-old football player, after which the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) withdrew Yamal from the squad. The club denies that the RFEF requested a medical certificate from them. Because, in their opinion, if the player himself asked to refuse the call-up, that is enough.
