Columbus Crew head coach Henrik Ridström shared his thoughts on Nariman Akhundzade after the victorious match against Atlanta United.
Idman.Biz reports that the Azerbaijani forward entered the field in the 90th minute of Columbus Crew's last match, which ended with a 3-1 victory. This was the team's first victory of the current season.
After the match, Ridström assessed the 21-year-old forward's game.
"Nariman recently came from Qarabag, he is a very talented player and we see a bright future for him," said the head coach of the US club.
The Swedish specialist also noted that he initially planned to release Akhundzade earlier in the game. However, the coaching staff decided not to rush the change, because, according to Ridström, Andres Herrera performed excellently on the right flank, created danger in attack and helped in defense. Thus, Akhundzade's limited playing time in the last game was not due to any complaints against the forward, but to the course of the game and the coach's tactical choice.
For information, the next round of the MLS game will take place on the night of April 12-13. Columbus Crew will host Orlando City at their home stadium.
