UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin commented on the new format of the Champions League.
Starting from the 2024/25 season, the group stage in Europe's premier club tournament has been abolished, and a League stage is held with the participation of 36 teams.
GOL.az reports that Aleksander Čeferin said in an interview with the Italian press that he was very satisfied with the new format:
"Our new format has been a great success. I think everyone who loves and understands football will understand that this season has been fantastic. We had really great games. The last day of the group stage was incredible. Some big teams were in serious danger of being eliminated from the tournament. For example, PSG, which is currently in the semi-finals. If they had lost one or two games, they would have been eliminated from the tournament. So it was a fantastic season. I think that even those who constantly criticize everything now understand this. Whether they want to admit it or not is another matter. "Inter" is the only Italian team to reach the semi-finals after passing the group stage."
