Cavid Imamverdiyev, a football player of the "Sheki City" club, which plays in the Azerbaijan Second League, is ready to play in the championship until he is 40 years old.
The striker himself said this in an interview with "Report".
The forward, who is currently the top scorer of the competition with 9 goals, spoke about his team's performance in the lower division:
"The current results are not entirely to our liking. Because as a team playing for the championship, we lost to our two main rivals - "Khankendi" and "Garadagh Lokbatan". I hope that we will achieve better results in the upcoming rounds and become the leader. We have the potential to play for the championship and our goal has always been to fight for the first place. The competition has just started, there will be many matches ahead. We don't want to lose points."
He did not rule out that he could play in the Second League in his current form for another 5 years:
"Regardless of which team I play for, my first thought has always been to be useful to the team. Of course, I always feel the help of my teammates. They perform well and provide me with the ball so that I can increase the number of my goals. I can play in the Second League until I am 40 years old. In my current situation, I can benefit in this championship. God willing, if we get promoted to the First League, of course, I will have to work on myself. In a higher championship, the weight should be less, and the physical condition should be improved. If God wills, I would like to go all the way to the Premier League."
It should be noted that Cavid Imamverdiyev is 35 years old. He wore the uniform of the Azerbaijani national team 11 times. During his career, he played for the clubs "Neftchi", "Karvan", "Sumgayit", "Sabah", "Keshla" (now "Shamakhi"), "Kapaz", "Kur-Araz", "Guba", and "Elazigspor" in Turkey.
