The appeal of "Drogheda United," the winner of the Irish Cup, to participate in the UEFA Conference League has not been granted.
İdman.biz reports that a statement was released on the club's official website.
UEFA excluded the Irish team from the Conference League because "Drogheda United" and Denmark's "Silkeborg" club are financed by the same company, "Trivela Group." Although the team's management, disagreeing with this decision, appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the result did not change.
It should be noted that "Derry City," who lost to "Drogheda United" in the Irish Cup final, did not want to participate in the tournament. As a result, in the 2025/2026 season, "Shamrock Rovers" and "Saint Patrick's" will represent the country in UEFA competitions.
