The International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) proposes increasing the duration of breaks in the 2026 World Cup matches.
İdman.biz reports with reference to Reuters that the break is proposed to be increased from 15 minutes to 20 minutes.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Nine of the 16 cities have conditions considered to be "extremely high risk of heat-related illnesses."
Dangerous heat and humidity are expected in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Guadalajara, Houston, Kansas City, Miami, Monterrey and Philadelphia, which could create problems for player safety.
According to FIFPro recommendations, temperatures above 28 degrees indicate conditions in which matches should be postponed or rescheduled to protect players' health.
