Branimir Subasic, the former football player of the Azerbaijani national team, "Neftchi" and "Qarabag", gave an interview to Sport24.az.
– Are you watching "Qarabag"'s performance in the UEFA Champions League?
– Of course. Everyone watches these matches. The team's results this season are magnificent.
– What was your prediction when the draw was made at the beginning of the season?
– In general, I was hoping for good results. I guess you, other Azerbaijanis and everyone else had hope. The results they have achieved are really a great achievement. I also congratulate the team.
- "Qarabag" will face "Newcastle" in the play-off stage. Can they pull off another sensation this time?
- Everything is possible in modern football now. "Qarabag" proved that it can compete with strong teams in Europe.
– What can you say about "Neftchi"?
– The team is slowly trying to recover. But frankly, I expect more. "Neftchi" deserves a better position. I hope it will rise soon.
– Can "Neftchi" achieve good results under the leadership of head coach Yuri Vernidub?
– I really hope so. I don't know the coach personally, but the selection of players is very important. The coach's psychology as well.
– The "Neftchi" vs. "Qarabag" match will be held on February 21. Which team will you support?
-I respect both clubs. But "Neftchi" has a special place in my heart. I have many good memories in this club. May the strongest win.
