Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, the president of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), announced that 371 of the 571 referees operating in professional leagues are registered on betting platforms.
Idman.Biz reports, citing "Anadolu Agency", that Haciosmanoglu stated that 152 of the registered referees are actively gambling.
Haciosmanoglu said at a press conference, "We will send the referees to the Disciplinary Committee in a short time regarding this matter. Whatever the rules require, will be applied."
It should be noted that Article 57 of the TFF's Football Disciplinary Regulations prohibits persons associated with football from betting directly or indirectly.
Persons who violate the rule are punished with a ban from competitions for three months to one year or deprivation of the right to act.
