Benfica's head manager Mario Branko, one of Qarabag's opponents in the League stage of the UEFA Champions League, has assessed the draw. Sport24.az reports that the club official called it a positive thing that the game with the Azerbaijani champion will be held on their home field:
"The Champions League is a competition that Benfica must participate in due to its size, history and international reputation. Big games await us ahead. Six of our opponents are from the 5 major leagues, and the other is a representative of the Netherlands, a team with a great history. Regardless of the opponents, the first goal in the Champions League for a club like Benfica is to qualify for the play-off stage. As for away games, it is a positive thing to play at home with Qarabag. We will not make a long trip to Azerbaijan. Other trips are normal. Two are to England, one to Italy, and the other to the Netherlands. We will have time to analyze and prepare for the matches. Currently, we are focusing all our attention on the game of the national championship with Alverca."
It should be noted that Benfica will face Real, Bayer, Napoli and Qarabag at home, and Chelsea, Juventus, Ajax and Newcastle away in the League stage.
