"Benfica" has responded on its official website to reports that midfielder Gianluca Prestianni confessed to his teammates that he made racist insults against Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior.
Idman.Biz reports that the alleged racist incident against the Brazilian took place during the first leg (0:1) of the teams' Champions League play-off stage.
"Benfica Football Club categorically denies the information that Prestianni informed the team or club management that he had made racist insults against Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior."
As previously reported, the player apologized to his teammates for the incident during the match against Real Madrid and expressed regret for the scale and consequences of the incident. The player also reiterated that he is not racist, as he has always been," the Lisbon team said in a statement.
