"Benfica" coach: "If the president thinks that I am the main culprit for losing to "Qarabag", I will resign."
"Benfica" coach Bruno Lage commented on the unexpected defeat (2:3) against "Qarabag" at the "Estadio da Luz" stadium in the Champions League.
İdman.biz reports that Lage said in response to a question about the local fans' demands for his resignation after the UEFA Champions League League stage I round match between "Benfica" and "Qarabag" ended in defeat for the Portuguese:
"I will never be a problem for Benfica. I understand very well that the club has given me a lot of joy and a great career. I will never be a burden. If the president feels that he does not have the support of the fans and that I am the main culprit, when he decides that my work is not reaching the players or that they are no longer with me, and when I feel that I am not worthy of this position, then "Benfica" will only pay me until today."
It should be noted that after the final whistle, local fans demanded Lage's resignation, showing their white handkerchiefs.
