An international friendly match between Nigeria's "Abuja" and Zanzibar's JKU in Tanzania was halted due to a bee attack.
Idman.biz reports that a swarm of bees appeared on the field in the 78th minute of the game, shocking the players. Match officials ordered the players to lie on the grass, and the game was suspended. Substitutes, staff, and other event participants also tried to hide under the benches. It is noted that the fans watched the events from the stands without interfering.
Although the causes of the incident have not been determined, changes in weather conditions and the proliferation of flowering trees near the stadium are among the initial versions. According to another version, the noise coming from the stadium could have caused the bees to display aggression.
The game restarted after a few minutes, and "Abuja" won 2:1. According to officials, no one was injured.
