"Barcelona" defeated "Newcastle United" 2:1 in the first match of the 2025/26 season of the UEFA Champions League. Sport24.az reports that this victory is the first away win for the Catalan club in the most prestigious European club tournament in the last 20 years.
"Barcelona" has not won their first away match in the Champions League since the 2005/06 season. At that time, the Catalans defeated "Werder" 2:0, reached the final and won the cup by defeating "Arsenal" 2:1 in the decisive match.
It should be noted that the Champions League final will be held at the "Puskas Arena" in Budapest. The decisive match will take place on May 30 next year.
