The "Barcelona" club has responded to allegations of financial irregularities on its official website.
Idman.Biz reports that a "blaugrana" fan previously appealed to the court with allegations of financial crimes against the club's management, including money laundering and acceptance of unjustified commissions.
Regarding the news that appeared in the media today, the "Barcelona" club states:
On January 15, 2026, journalists from two media organizations and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) contacted the club to verify data and alleged documents that could confirm or substantiate the facts presented in today's news.
In accordance with the club's internal procedures, the submitted information was initially analyzed to assess its veracity, consistency, and authenticity, and appropriate internal and external audits were conducted. As a result of this process, it was discovered that the information was not factual or was based on fake or grossly falsified documents. Therefore, on January 19, the Club responded to the organization and journalists by directly stating that the information they wanted to verify was in fact completely false and that the documents on which it was based were (without seeing them) undoubtedly false and/or forged.
In this regard, the Club thanked the journalists involved in the investigation for requesting confirmation of the information, while also asking them to refrain from publishing the article, given the circumstances, as these were clearly false.
According to the Club, this false information was presented to various national media organizations. None of them published this news, as the available evidence clearly showed its false nature. The Club does not have details of the statement made in the article in question, although the published information overlaps with the information that the Club explicitly denied on January 19, 2026.
After the facts have been confirmed, the club intends to do the following:
take immediate necessary legal action against the named members of the organization for providing false information, false documents, defamation, and any other information that may be found in the report;
call on the Club's Disciplinary Committee to initiate legal proceedings against the named members, demanding that the strictest disciplinary measures be applied to them, regardless of whether the report has been brought to the attention of the complainants;
review the necessary measures to be taken against the media organization that published the article, knowing that the allegation is based on false information and without taking into account the club's duly obtained version of events;
take decisive and severe action against media outlets and/or individuals who accepted as true information that later turned out to be false.
The club, as always, requests that information that may negatively affect the image of the club and candidates, especially during the election process, be verified before publication and that news based on false information not be published.
In addition, the club will provide the election committee with all available information on this matter so that it can verify the situation and inform the candidates about the consequences of using false information and news during the election process.
The "Barcelona" club regrets that this issue has arisen in the middle of the election process. This communication is carried out in response to an unfounded attempt to change the democratic process, which is one of the club's core values, and the aim is to influence and manipulate the sovereignty of "Barcelona" members," the Catalan club said.
