The book Football Leaks: The Dirty Business of Football has revealed one of the strangest contracts in football history. When Mario Balotelli signed with Liverpool, a £1 million discipline bonus was included.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the agreement was simple: Balotelli would receive a bonus if he did not receive three or more red cards during the season for foul play, insults, or arguing with referees.
Before joining Liverpool, Mario had already received seven red cards in his career, so the club decided to be cautious. The Italian was eager to earn a million: he collected seven yellow cards for the Merseysiders, but was never sent off!
Balotelli spent only one season at Anfield - 28 games and four goals. But he certainly earned his unusual bonus.
